How we handle your data.

Ravengard ("we", "us", "the community") operates a community of game servers for SCP: Secret Laboratory, this website, and a Discord server. This policy explains what information we collect when you connect an account or play on our servers, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We are an independent community and are not affiliated with Northwood Studios.

1. Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the community, whitelist players, and provide stats and perks:

  • Discord account data. When you log in with Discord we receive your Discord user ID, username, avatar, and email address. Discord is your primary login.
  • Steam account data. To be whitelisted you link your Steam account, from which we receive your SteamID64 and public profile name. Your SteamID is used to match your in-game activity to your account.
  • Patreon data. If you link Patreon, we receive your Patreon ID and membership/pledge tier so we can grant the matching perks. We do not receive your payment card details.
  • Gameplay data. When you play on our servers we record statistics such as playtime, kills, deaths, escapes, rounds played, achievements, per-round reports, and your balance of RavenCoins (a free in-game micro-currency earned through play — it cannot be bought and has no real-world value). We honor SCP:SL's in-game Do Not Track (DNT) setting: if you enable DNT in the game client, your gameplay statistics are not recorded.
  • Technical data. We log IP addresses and connection metadata for security, anti-cheat, ban enforcement, and abuse prevention.
  • Whitelist & moderation data. Whitelist requests, automated risk assessments, staff approvals, watch notes, and any bans or sanctions tied to your account.

2. How we use your data

  • Authenticate you and link your Discord, Steam, and Patreon identities to a single account.
  • Decide whitelist eligibility and keep our servers safe from cheaters and ban evaders.
  • Display leaderboards, profiles, round reports, and achievements (you can opt out of public leaderboards).
  • Grant reserve slots, ranks, RavenCoins, and other perks tied to Patreon or shop purchases.
  • Provide and enforce in-game moderation, and respond to support requests.

3. How your data is shared

We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only with the third-party services required to operate the community: Discord (login & bot integration), Steam (account linking), and Patreon (membership perks). Some stats and your public profile name may be visible to other players on leaderboards and round reports. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect the community from abuse.

4. Data retention

We keep account, gameplay, and moderation data for as long as your account is active and as needed to operate the community and enforce bans. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see below). Some records, such as ban history, may be retained for security purposes.

5. Your choices & rights

  • Unlink your Steam or Patreon account at any time from your account settings.
  • Opt out of appearing on public leaderboards.
  • Enable Do Not Track (DNT) in the SCP:SL game client to stop your gameplay statistics from being recorded.
  • Request a copy or deletion of your personal data.

6. Children

Our community follows the minimum age requirements of Discord and Steam. The website and servers are not directed at children below those ages, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the community evolves. Material changes will be announced on our Discord. Continued use of the website or servers after a change means you accept the updated policy.
